When a workplace issue involves the interpretation, application, or alleged violation of the APC/CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Article 10 establishes a formal grievance procedure for resolving disputes. Understanding that process helps employees protect their contractual rights while ensuring important filing deadlines are met.
This graphic provides a high-level overview of how grievances move through the process outlined in Article 10.

What Is a Grievance?
A grievance is an allegation that the University has violated, misinterpreted, or improperly applied a provision of the APC/CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Grievances may involve issues such as workload, evaluations, reassignment, leave, discipline, compensation, or any other contractual right.
Start with Your Steward
Your campus steward is the best place to begin. They can review the situation, explain your options, and determine whether the grievance process may apply. Because contractual timelines matter, reaching out early is important.
APC Is Here to Help
The grievance process exists to help ensure bargaining unit employees receive fair treatment under the contract. Whether your concern becomes a formal grievance or is resolved another way, APC is committed to protecting members’ rights and helping them navigate the process.
For complete procedures, refer to Article 10 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
