APC Bargaining Update: July 2026 Salary Negotiations

To All Unit 4 Employees:

We wanted to provide you with an update on the status of APC’s ongoing bargaining negotiations. The budget for the 2026/2027 fiscal year includes a 7% increase in state funding for the CSU and reflects progress and support from the State.

We continue to advocate for these funds to be allocated towards employee compensation so that our salaries reflect current market value. The CSU is investing in buildings, technology, new academic initiatives, and administrative efficiencies, but every one of those priorities depends on the professional staff represented by APC.

We understand the frustration of not hearing about any bargaining updates for some time now and that we have not had a salary increase in two years, but we ask for your patience and support during this difficult time for all unions.

Remember, the CSU only offered a 3% one-time bonus for 2025/2026 and every union rejected it because it does not provide a permanent salary raise. For this fiscal year, we will be meeting with the CSU on Tuesday, August 4th, and we are hopeful that they will come with a meaningful salary proposal and that they will bargain in good faith.

It is disturbing that the Board of Trustees continues to approve more than generous raises for campus presidents, who in turn waste university money on executives whose job titles go as far as their salaries.

APC is advocating for better control of the allocation of resources by lobbying for AB 1831, which would require the Board of Trustees to replace its current executive compensation policy and prohibit salary increases for the Chancellor, vice chancellors, and campus presidents in any year that the CSU raises student tuition. We are also in full support of AB 1818, which is in favor of fair and binding collective bargaining agreements.

We deserve a contract that provides fair compensation and reasonable working conditions. The CSU keeps investing in new ways of cutting costs, that inevitably have a negative effect on our working conditions and which continue to cause excessive executive bloat.

It is impossible to imagine every step of student success without your expertise and countless hours of hard work that you put in every day. The APC Bargaining Team believes that it is critical at this time to negotiate a general salary increase that reflects your hard work. We will continue to negotiate on that basis and do our best to deliver on that.

Now more than ever we know the value of every dollar in our paycheck, and we believe that it is crucial to go through this process together. Thank you for your continued support, patience, and solidarity as we work to secure the fair compensation you deserve.

In Solidarity,

The APC Bargaining Team
