Dagoberto Argueta

President

Dagoberto Argueta hails from San Francisco State University where he has held several Unit 4 positions since 1988. He began his involvement with union work even before his tenure at the University and became active within APC during a wave of layoffs in the CSU in the late 90’s.

Prior to being elected APC President in 2023, Dagoberto was APC Vice President for nine years. Before being elected to state-wide leadership, he was a long-term chief steward at his home campus. During his stewardship, he participated in several state-wide committees and bargaining team.

I am originally from Houston, Texas and went to college at Texas A&M University in College Station and received both my B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Educational Psychology (College Student Personnel Specialization) degrees from there. I started my 30+ years’ career in the CSU as a Residence Director at San Jose State University. At

CSU Bakersfield, I have held positions besides Residence Director as EOP Counselor, Academic Advisor, and Assistant Director in the Services for Students with Disabilities Office.

In my service to APC, I have been Chief Steward on the Bakersfield campus and have been previously elected to the APC Executive Board as President, Recording Secretary, and Council Member at Large.

Christine McCarthy

Christine McCarthy began her APC career as Chief Steward on the CSU Fullerton campus in 1994. She moved to APC Southern Vice President in 2001 and has served as the APC Treasurer from 2003 to the present. She currently serves as Chair of the Bargaining Committee and Chair of the Policies and Procedures Committee.

Beginning as an advisor in Undergraduate Advisement in 1983 Christine has held various positions at CSU Fullerton including Assistant Director, Learning Resource Center, Assistant Coordinator, Summer Bridge and most recently Director, Athletic Academic Services. Her career in higher education has included a stint as Director of Student Services for the So Cal Division of the University of Phoenix and Director of Student Services for Western State University, College of Law. Christine has a Masters Degree in Social Sciences from CSU Fullerton.

Rose Duran began her career in higher education at California Polytechnic (Cal Poly) State University as an Academic Program Administrator for Extended Education in 2000. Ms. Duran earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Cal Poly – SLO and her Masters of Business Administration.

Rose became a campus leader with APC as a steward, followed by a Chief Steward on the Cal Poly – SLO campus in 2009. She has been an Elected Statewide Officer for the past 5 + years.

She has also been actively involved at the state level as Chair(s) of the Organizing Committee and Elections Committee and Co-Chair of the Communications Committee, as well as member(s) of the Policies and Procedures, External Relations Committee, Arbitration Committee and the Bargaining Team.

Rose is a business consultant with a specialized MBA in Management and Leadership, which provides a unique perspective on business challenges. She’s been working in the corporate world for over 15 years, with experience across multiple diverse departments including HR, sales, marketing, IT, commercial development and training.

Council Member At Large

Mario Baeza is currently serving as the Council Member at Large, which is responsible for providing chapter support for all campus leadership. He also is serving as Chief Steward for California State University, San Bernardino campus since 2009. Mario’s committee involvement includes serving as the past Chair of the Education Committee, current Chair of the Communications Committee and as a member of the Organizing Committee, Bargaining Committee, and Arbitration Committee.

Mario’s 30+ year career at Cal State began in 1990 as a Counselor and is currently the Admissions and Outreach Coordinator for the Educational Opportunity Program. He has served as an Adjunct Professor, as a Diversity Trainer, a Fraternity Advisor and serves on various Community College Advisory Boards. In 2011, he was awarded CSUSB’s “Employee of the Year”. Mario holds a Master’s Degree in I/O Psychology.
