Message from Incoming President Dagoberto Argueta

Dear Unit 4 Colleague,

This spring, as we celebrate with our students their graduation from the University, I also reflect on the official end of the pandemic as a national emergency and the beginning of a new term for the statewide leadership of APC.   The former proved the importance of Unit 4 employees for the mission of the University, while the latter suggests what we must do to accomplish our goals as a Union.

While the effects of COVID 19 will stay with us for a long time, APC is looking ahead to advocating for our Unit and the communities we serve.  Now, more than ever, it seems as if our motto “Student Success Depends on Us” is all the more attuned to the realities played out daily in offices staffed by Unit 4 employees.  Indeed, our success translates into student success.

APC will continue to demand permanent positions to attract enthusiastic and qualified applicants, flexibility in telecommuting and, as always, equitable compensation across the board for all our Unit 4 colleagues.  In the next several months, APC along with our sister Unions in the CSU will be ramping up our dialogue with our employer to ensure fair working conditions at a time when a tight labor market requires an overhaul of a broken-beyond-repair compensation system stifling professional growth.

To achieve this, we ask that you support APC by becoming a member.  This can be done easily by PRESSING THIS LINK.  Your membership is the best statement you can make to the CSU that you stand together with your fellow APC members in promoting a healthy and fair working environment within the CSU.

I believe to speak on behalf of my colleagues on the APC Executive Board when I pledge to endeavor to carry out the work and mission of our Union in defending our rights and voicing our collective aspirations; all in service of our students, this institution so many of us call our Alma Mater in this wonderful State we all call home.

In Union,

Dagoberto Argueta
APC President
