APC members and leadership recently came together at a CSU Board of Trustees meeting, continuing a shared commitment to representing Unit 4 employees across the system.
We want to thank the members who were able to attend the rally and show their support. Your presence reflects the strength of our union and the shared dedication to the work we do every day. When members show up, it reinforces that Unit 4 professionals are engaged, informed, and invested in the future of our campuses.

Member Presence at the Rally
We recognize that attending a Board of Trustees rally is not always easy. These meetings are held in Long Beach and often take place during the workday, making it difficult for many members to participate due to distance, scheduling, and work responsibilities.
Even so, when members are able to attend, it brings visibility to Unit 4 and reinforces the collective voice of APC across campuses. A visible presence helps ensure that decision-makers understand that the work performed by Unit 4 professionals is essential to student success and campus operations.
If you ever have the opportunity to join a rally, your presence contributes to that shared effort. Participation looks different for everyone, and every level of engagement plays a role in strengthening our union.
Representation Inside the Meeting
In addition to member presence at the rally, APC leadership also represents Unit 4 employees during the Board of Trustees meeting itself.
These moments provide an opportunity to raise issues that directly impact members and the students we support. Leadership brings forward concerns shaped by the experiences of professionals across CSU campuses, ensuring that those perspectives are part of system-level discussions.
This representation is an important part of APC’s ongoing work to advocate for fair practices, stable working conditions, and the recognition of the critical roles Unit 4 employees hold.
A Recent Example of Advocacy
At a recent meeting, APC Council Member at Large and President-Elect Mario Baeza spoke about hiring practices affecting Unit 4 employees.
He shared that, during the current fiscal year, several CSU campuses hired all new Unit 4 employees as temporary appointments. He emphasized that Unit 4 professionals perform ongoing work that supports students through critical stages of their academic journey, and that these roles are not temporary in nature.
He also noted that some campuses filled their positions with permanent hires rather than relying on temporary appointments during the same period, demonstrating that consistent, long-term staffing is achievable.

This is one example of how APC leadership continues to bring forward member concerns and advocate for practices that support both employees and student success.
APC representation happens both at the rally and inside the meeting. From members who show up when they can, to leadership speaking on behalf of Unit 4, each effort contributes to a stronger, more unified voice across the CSU system.
