Dear Colleagues,
I am sure you have questions about the status of the negotiations between Teamsters Local 2010 and the CSU, and the effect of the strike last week.
At a recent Zoom call with the coalition of CSU unions, Jason Rabinowitz, Teamsters Secretary Treasurer, thanked APC for the support we offered them throughout the week. He also corroborated something I experienced first hand; the job action was a logistical success demonstrating their ability to maintain a high-stakes operation systemwide. Mr. Rabinowitz indicated they will resume bargaining with the CSU next month and, prior to the beginning of the strike, the CSU made frantic attempts to stop it. Teamsters leadership will keep in touch with the other CSU unions to keep us abreast of any developments.
On a personal note, I thank all of you who made the effort to join our striking colleagues on the picket line. In addition to visiting my own home campus (SFSU), I visited Sonoma and East Bay and was joined in all three occasions by enthusiastic throngs of Unit 4 employees supporting Teamsters. I also thank VP Choi for visiting his own campus, Fresno and Monterey Bay during that week as well as Chris Beck, chief steward at Fresno. My thanks also to Samuel Flores for helping stewards at the San Bernardino and Long Beach campuses in their very successful rallies.
In all, I believe every campus had a strong show of support for the strike amid one of the most inclement weather systems in recent times. Please know our display of solidarity did not go unnoticed and buoyed the resolve of our colleagues during a time of great need.
My heartfelt gratitude to all of you.
Dago Argueta
APC President
