Bargaining Update – Salary Re-Opener 2025-26

bargaining update salary reopener

The start of the fall semester has been underscored by the fiscal realities at the statewide level. We were able to meet with the CSU Bargaining Team on Monday, September 22nd, to begin negotiations for the 2025-26 salary reopener in our contract. As we reflect on our first bargaining session, we want to share some thoughts and insights with you all.

The CSU Bargaining Team affirms that the full funding has not been met, with a $144 million reduction to the base budget. The CSU has the opportunity to receive a one-time loan to return the budget to its pre-reduction amount. It seems now that the Board of Trustees is weighing the choice before them but did not have information to share on where they stood. Thankfully, we were not met with non-raise proposals, so we are hopeful that we will be able to work together to identify a potential agreement on funding.

We would also like to share that we have made an economic proposal under Article 23: Salary and will provide more updates regarding this after future bargaining sessions. Any updates to the funding for 2025-26 and any future meetings with the CSU Bargaining team will be shared with you all. We will continue to advocate earnestly for the hard-earned recognition, respect, and compensation that Unit 4 members deserve.

In solidarity,
APC Bargaining Team
