Mario Baeza currently serves as President. Prior to assuming the presidency, he served as Council Member-at-Large, providing leadership and chapter support to campuses. He has also served as Chief Steward at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB).
Throughout his years of union leadership, Mario has served in numerous APC leadership and committee roles, including past chair of the Education Committee, and as a member of the Communications Committee, Organizing Committee, the Bargaining Team, and Arbitration Committee. His work has focused on member advocacy, leadership development, communication strategies, and strengthening APC’s statewide presence.
Mario began his career at CSUSB in 1990 and has dedicated more than three decades to supporting student success. At CSUSB, he worked in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) as a Counselor and Admissions/Outreach Coordinator. In addition to his university service, he has worked as an adjunct professor, diversity trainer, fraternity advisor, and member of several community college advisory boards.
In recognition of his commitment to students and the university community, Mario was named CSUSB’s Employee of the Year in 2011. He holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
Daryl Evans was born in the United Kingdom while his father was stationed there with the Air Force. He later grew up in Las Vegas after his father was transferred to Nellis Air Force Base.
Daryl is a proud alumnus of California State University, Dominguez Hills, where he served as ASI President. His experiences as a student leader helped shape his commitment to servant leadership, a value he has carried throughout his career at CSUDH. He is passionate about helping students and staff reach their full potential.
As a member of APC, Daryl has served as a Steward and Chief Steward at CSUDH. At the statewide level, he has been an active contributor to the Communications, External Relations, and Education Committees, and has also served on the Bargaining Team. He looks forward to serving APC as Vice President and working alongside members to accomplish great things over the next three years.
Krystal Flores is originally from the San Gabriel Valley, and is a proud alumna of Cal State Los Angeles, where she discovered her passion for transformative work in higher education. With over a decade of leadership and financial management experience, she currently serves as Senior Coordinator for New Student Programs & Family Engagement at Cal Poly Pomona.
Since joining the Academic Professionals of California (APC) in 2020, Krystal has become an active member, contributing to the Communications Committee and serving on the Bargaining Team. Her involvement reflects her commitment to advocating for fair compensation, workplace equity, and professional growth opportunities for all members. Krystal holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Education and a Master’s Degree in Counseling.
Krystal Flores (Cal Poly Pomona)
Dr. Edie Brown has worked at Sonoma State University since 2001 as a Student Services Professional. She has extensive experience in advising, EOP, and Basic Needs, and currently serves as the Basic Needs & Care Team Lead Coordinator. Edie believes deeply in the transformative power of higher education and is passionate about supporting students in achieving their academic goals. In 2025, she was recognized as a Face of SSU, honoring her impact and contributions to the campus community.
A long-standing union leader, Edie has served as campus steward, Chief Steward, Bargaining Team member, and APC President (2020–2023). She is committed to advocacy, transparency, and strengthening union support for Unit 4 employees..
A proud CSU graduate, she holds a B.A. in Psychology (Sonoma State), an M.S. in Counseling (San Francisco State), and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership (Fresno State). Originally from San Francisco, Edie has also lived in Monterey and now resides in Santa Rosa.
Lorena Segovia
Council Member At Large
Lorena Segovia is a dedicated higher education professional and proud double alumna of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), where she earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and her Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance. In 2011, she was hired as a Student Services Professional and immediately joined APC. She currently serves as the Lead Student and Academic Advisor for the College of Extended and Global Education, where she is committed to supporting student success and advancing access to higher education.
In 2020 when she became a Steward and in 2026 was selected to serve as Chief Steward at CSUSB, expanding her responsibility to advocate for and represent APC members. She brings to leadership a collaborative approach, a deep understanding of the challenges facing higher education professionals, and a strong commitment to protecting and advancing the interests of APC members.
During her downtime, she and her wife enjoy taking their five dogs on walks, building LEGO sets, and spending afternoons at Disneyland. These experiences reinforce the values of connection, community, and shared purpose that she brings to both her professional and union service.
Lorena remains passionate about building a stronger union and ensuring that current and future generations of professionals have a voice, meaningful representation, and the support needed to thrive.
